Tips;
- Remember to take your driving license, this may sound silly but the car rental company will not let you take the car without this. Some car rental companies will require the paper copy as well as the photo id version of your driving license
- You will need to carry your ID (Passport) and driving license with you, the police in Spain do set up check points where they will pull over all cars for a routine check. As long as you have your documents there will be no problem.
- Dont drink and drive, its is very tempting to have a lazy siesta and a bottle of wine before driving off and continuing your day trip. There are many stories about the problems with drinking and driving in Spain but the Spanish police are clamping down on this with heavy fines and bans even if you are a foreigner.
- Buy a decent map, Spanish road signs are not the best in the world and can sometimes be none existent. So it is wise to invest in a good road map of the area you are in, most petrol stations sell these for a few euros.
- There is nothing to be scared about driving in Spain, once you get used to driving on the other side of the road (which does not take long) there is nothing to it, this will be a enjoyable part of your Spanish holiday driving around in your hire car.
