Beaches - Tenerife beaches are generally black although there are some stretches of golden sands, which have been imported from the Sahara Desert. The sea is perfect for swimming and water sports. Bars and restaurants are plentiful, many of which offer traditional Spanish tapas and Canarian specialities. Events - An event not to be missed is the famous fiesta held in the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which has been declared of International Tourist Interest. Characterised by the spectacular costumes and entertainment during the fiesta.
